Search the part before the extension (SLD). Compare matching names, their extensions, and exact registrations.
Illustrative SLDs. Run a search to see indexed registrations.
Pattern searches match SLDs, the part of a domain before its extension, across the whole index. Exact-SLD lookups show the indexed extensions for that SLD. Counts describe indexed registrations; use a registrar to check current availability.
About Zone Counter
How do I search every registered domain for a keyword?
Zone Counter searches an index of 350M+ registered domain names across every extension in Toyroom’s zone data. Type a word, prefix, or suffix to see how many names contain it, which extensions hold the exact name, and the matching names themselves. It answers “how many extensions is this name taken in” in one search. Counts are registrations, not availability.
How to use it
- Type a keyword or a full name of two characters or more. Choose Contains, Starts with, or Ends with.
- Limit the search to specific extensions if you want, up to 50 at a time.
- Read the counts: matching registrations, distinct names, and the extensions that hold the exact name.
- Page through the matches, export up to 100,000 to CSV, or send them to Portfolio Summary for a breakdown.

Questions
Does Zone Counter show whether a domain is available?
No. It counts registered names found in zone files. A name missing from the index can still be taken, for example when it has no nameservers or sits in an extension whose zone file is not published. Check availability at a registrar before you buy.
How many extensions is a domain taken in?
Search the name without an extension. Zone Counter lists every extension in its index where that exact name is registered. Domain investors read a high count as a demand signal, and the Domain Appraiser shows it next to every estimate.
What is the difference between registrations and distinct names?
A registration is one name in one extension, like example.com. A distinct name is the part before the dot, counted once across all extensions. example.com and example.net are two registrations of one distinct name.
